Before You Delete Your Account

Before deleting your account, please consider the following:

Download Your Data

You can request a copy of your data, including posts, photos, messages, and profile information. See the "Download Your Data" section below for instructions.

Consider Deactivation

If you're not sure about permanent deletion, you can temporarily deactivate your account. This hides your profile and content but allows you to return later.

What Will Be Deleted

Permanent account deletion will remove:

  • Your profile, including name, username, bio, and profile picture
  • All posts, photos, videos, and stories you've created
  • All comments and likes
  • All messages and conversations
  • All saved/bookmarked content
  • Your Loops profile and connection history
  • All account settings and preferences

How to Delete Your Account

Step-by-Step Instructions

Open the Meeloop App

Launch the Meeloop mobile application on your device

Go to Your Profile

Tap your profile icon in the bottom navigation bar

Access Settings

Tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top right corner, then select "Settings"

Navigate to Account Settings

Scroll down and tap "Account" or "Account Settings"

Select Delete Account

Tap "Delete Account" at the bottom of the Account Settings page

Review Information

Read the information about what will be deleted and the consequences of account deletion

Provide Feedback (Optional)

You may be asked why you're leaving. This feedback is optional but helps us improve

Enter your password to confirm your identity

Confirm Deletion

Tap "Delete My Account" to confirm. You may need to confirm again

You will receive a confirmation message. Your account deletion process has begun

Alternative Method: Email Request

If you cannot access your account or need assistance, you can request account deletion via email:

  1. Send an email to hello@meeloop.com
  2. Use the subject line: "Account Deletion Request"
  3. Include your registered email address or phone number
  4. Include your username (if you remember it)
  5. Provide a brief explanation of why you need assistance

Our support team will verify your identity and process your deletion request within 7-10 business days.

Download Your Data

Before deleting your account, you can download a copy of your information. Here's how:

Go to your Profile → Menu → Settings

Tap "Privacy and Security"

Tap "Download Your Data" and follow the prompts

Choose which data you want to download (posts, messages, profile info, etc.)

Select your preferred file format (JSON or HTML)

Verify your identity with your password and submit the request

You'll receive an email with a download link within 48 hours

Note: The download link will be valid for 7 days. Make sure to download your data before it expires.

What Happens After Deletion

Immediate Effects

Once you confirm account deletion:

  • Your profile will be immediately deactivated and hidden from other users
  • Your posts, stories, and comments will no longer be visible
  • Other users will not be able to find or contact you
  • You will be logged out of all devices

Grace Period (30 Days)

Your account enters a 30-day grace period during which:

  • Your data is retained but inaccessible
  • You can cancel the deletion by logging back in
  • After 30 days, deletion becomes permanent and irreversible

Complete Deletion (After 30 Days)

After the grace period:

  • All your personal data is permanently deleted from our active systems
  • Your username becomes available for others to use
  • Your email address and phone number can be used to create a new account
  • Some anonymized analytics data may be retained for legal or operational purposes

What May Remain

Some information may be retained after account deletion:

  • Messages you sent to others may remain in their inboxes
  • Backup copies in our disaster recovery systems (deleted within 90 days)
  • Records required for legal compliance (e.g., transaction records, abuse reports)
  • Anonymized data used for analytics and research

Temporary Deactivation (Alternative)

If you're not ready for permanent deletion, consider temporarily deactivating your account instead:

Benefits of Deactivation

  • Your profile is hidden from others but your data is preserved
  • You can reactivate anytime by simply logging back in
  • Your username, posts, and connections remain saved
  • No grace period or waiting time

How to Deactivate:

Go to Settings → Account → Deactivate Account. Follow the same steps as deletion but choose "Deactivate" instead of "Delete".

How to Cancel Deletion (During Grace Period)

If you change your mind within 30 days of requesting deletion:

  1. Open the Meeloop app or website
  2. Log in with your email/phone number and password
  3. You'll see a message about pending deletion
  4. Tap "Cancel Deletion" or "Restore My Account"
  5. Your account will be fully restored with all data intact
